Matthew Patterson

Matthew is on track to graduate from SDSU in December 2022 with a bachelors degree in cell and molecular biology and a minor in chemistry. He is a Bridges to Stem Cell Research Internship Program (BSCRIP) intern, a program through the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM). In lab, Matthew works directly with culturing stem cells and growing retinal organoids for his independent research project. After graduating, Matt plans on taking a few gap years to gain more research experience. After his gap years he plans on applying to a Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) to obtain an MD and PhD so that he can be better equipped to carry out medical research.

Outside of lab, Matthew likes to surf, hike, and generally explore San Diego!
